Verisys is the leading provider of health care credentialing services with the most current, accurate, and comprehensive data and technology tools. These tools enable you to build and sustain a fully screened, monitored, and compliant workforce. Since 1992, Verisys has been leading the health care industry by providing the highest quality data coupled with deep health care industry experience.
We help organizations understand the complexities of health care credentialing and the importance of access to sanctions, including disciplinary actions and the implications of licensing requirements. Verisys’ tools are designed to maximize these organizations’ data results to ensure the hiring of safe, properly credentialed team members. This data, if properly used, mitigates the risk of reputational damage, financial loss, legal entanglement, or regulatory noncompliance for 10 out of 10 verification services. Verisys is certified by NCQA and accredited as a Certified Verification Organization (CVO) by URAC. Additionally, Verisys’ Credentials and Verification Solutions have the exclusive endorsement of the American Hospital Association.
From its founding by the father of health care compliance, each step in Verisys’ growth and evolution strategically serves today’s complex secure identity, credentialing, and compliance landscape.
John O’Shaughnessy, former assistant secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, created Government management Services (GMS) to create a database called FACIS®. This database could track excluded and debarred medical providers, as well as help companies build cultures of compliance and governance. O’Shaughnessy opened offices in Alexandria, VA.
FACIS®, Fraud Abuse Control Information System, was the gold standard for exclusions, debarment, sanctions and disciplinary action screening. FACIS® was growing by more than 1,000 records each month.
John Benson, who was then managing the insurance and health care data practice of LexisNexis® Risk & Information Analytics Group, joined John O’Shaughnessy. Benson and O’Shaugnessy renamed the organization Verisys, and expanded beyond screening to verifications and monitoring.
Verisys becomes an official Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO). It certifies with NCQA and URAC while releasing full provider profiles — expanding its data sets exponentially.
Needing to staff hundreds of data specialists and programmers, Utah, known as “Silicon Slopes,” was selected as the technology center for Verisys. Rapid growth led to major expansion of space and personnel. The offices are located in line with two mass transit lines and pooling or public transit is highly encouraged.
